Cocock’s Nail Art

DSC05215_thumb[2]

As many of you might already know, I love having my toe nails brightly colored. You might also already know that for as much as I love brightly polished toe nails (read: teal, dark green, royal blue, black, etc.), I have only had two pedicures in my life. I have a thing about not liking people touching my feet. I know, it’s weird, but hey, it’s me we’re talking about here.

Nail art is a HUGE deal on this island. (Mind you, we wear sandals 10 months out of the year.) Almost every girl I know here goes on a regular basis to get a pedicure. And there seem to be about as many nail art shops here as there are coffee shops in Seattle. And the nail art they do is amazing! Steph had the cutest koi ponds painted on her toes in July! The detail was astonishing!

I had decided I wanted to get a pedicure while we live on Okinawa so I could sport some of the super-cute nail art at least once. Steph finally convinced me to go with her to Cocock’s.

Forgive me for the lack of pictures of the actual experience at Cocock’s. Chalk it up to the anxiety I was feeling about having someone touch my feet multiplied by the fact that I had cut the instep of my right foot when we were snorkeling the day before. As far as pedicures go, the experience was great! We chose from over 60 pages worth of nail art (with 6-10 options on each page!) It was so difficult to decide on one pattern!

My favorite part was watching Aki literally paint my toe nails with acrylic paint (the stuff I have in my craft room) using the tiniest brush I’d ever seen! Each toe is painted slightly different and she even added both glitter paint and holographic circles to make the art “pop!” I was amazed at how much each tiny dot of color or tiny line of white truly added to the overall effect. So cool!

Here’s an up-close picture – check out that detail!

Every single toe is slightly different! Aki did a wonderful job! I think she should paint greeting cards – I know I’d purchase them!

I’m glad Steph convinced me to go, and I’m enjoying sporting island-y nail art. That being said, I don’t intend to go out and purchase a frequent member’s punch card any time soon. Love the nail art – still not a huge fan of people touching my feet. But that’s just me. I can say I’m going to thoroughly enjoy this nail art as long as it lasts!

You have to wear those exact sandals every day! They go so well with your did up nails!! You must have inherited my mom's foot fears. She'll go through the roof if you even accidentally touch them! Now Brandon needs to take you dancing so you can show your pedi off! LOL
